She’s ready to rock and roll…
After years of proving her mettle in acting, Sue Ramirez is now embracing her unwavering love for music and performance through her first ever solo concert dubbed as “Rock Chic” this July 19 at the Music Museum.
While she admits that there is some pressure to put up a good show for those who would make time to see her, she is very much thrilled to be finally ticking off this goal off of her bucket list.
The one-night-only show directed and produced by Frank Lloyd Mamaril is a set to be a spectacle of all things Sue—her edgy yet carefree persona along with her undeniable passion for music.
Making the concert even more special is the presence of Sue’s good friends Kristel Fulgar and Maris Racal, with whom she first shared the stage with in the 2017 concert “4 of a Kind: The Un4gettable Concert.” Also joining Sue for a first-time collaboration during the show is crooner Michael Pangilinan.
Since it’s a first for her, Sue claims that her official hashtag while prepping for it is “#TiwalaLang,” pertaining to the guidance that she’s getting from her directors.
“Right now nagbi-binge listening ako ng mga songs and iniisip ko kung paano kong gagawing ako, rather yung gayahin ko lang kung paano siya kinanta ng singer,” she said.
Meanwhile, Direk Frank was all praises to Sue after seeing her potential when he directed the concert with the four friends.
“Having known that Sue actually auditioned for Star Magic as a singer. And because she has definitely proven her spot in acting, I believe, she just needs an avenue to showcase her singing talent,” he said.
Her repertoire is set to be a chill, trip down the memory lane for it would have a mix of new hits and good ol’ 90s vibes from her idols in the local and international scene. According to Sue, those who are watching the show must be ready with their dancing shoes as she too will be unleashing that side of hers on the show.
In the end, the singer-actress vowed to do her best, especially for the people who believed in her capacity to perform since the beginning.
“It would be very personal and close to the heart. And we’re all gonna have a good time, that’s for sure,” Sue said.
Sue Ramirez’s “Rock Chic” concert is produced by FLM Creatives and Productions Inc. with Frank Lloyd Mamaril as director and Marvin Querido as musical director. The concert is co-presented by Top-O together with major sponsor Natasha and minor sponsors I Love My Sisters, Faber Castell, GSM Blue, GAOC and Belo Medical Group.

What Fans Can Expect At ONE: DAWN OF HEROES
Future ONE World Champions will be in action at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES on 2 August at the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines.
The venue has been the scene for several memorable moments in ONE Championship history. In the featured bout, newly-crowned ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan Haggerty will make the first defense of his title against Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
Haggerty captured his title when he stunned the legendary Sam-A Gaiyanghadao at ONE: FOR HONOR in May, showing no nerves during the high-pressure brawl as he outfought the Thai icon.
The challenger, Rodtang, is known as “The Iron Man,” and throughout his career has proven worthy of that moniker. Rodtang has already had more than 300 professional bouts.
For Rodtang, applying pressure is everything in the ring. This approach has helped him a great deal in his career, but that's an area where Haggerty has proven successful too. When these two men's styles meet, fans should get ready for an action-packed affair.
Aside from the Muay Thai title bout, there are many other great matches on the card.
Eduard Folayang and Eddie Alvarez, two men who have seen better moments than the last time they were in the ONE Circle, will clash.
At ONE: A NEW ERA in Japan, Folayang lost his ONE Lightweight World Title via first-round submission to Shinya Aoki. On the same card, Alvarez lost his promotional debut via first-round TKO to Timofey Nastyuhkin, eliminating him from the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix.
The Folayang-Alvarez battle should be a good one. Both men prefer to strike, but striking defense hasn't always been their strong suit, so there is a good chance this bout ends with an exciting finish on the feet.
Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson advanced to the semifinal round of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix at ONE: A NEW ERA with a second-round submission win over Yuya Wakamatsu. He returns to the ONE Circle for the next matchup in the tournament against another fierce Japanese competitor in Tatsumitsu Wada, who overcame Olympic wrestler Gustavo Balart via unanimous decision in the quarterfinal.
Wada will be a massive underdog against Johnson as the American eyes a berth in the Grand Prix Finals.
The winner of Johnson-Wada will take on the winner of the battle between Danny Kingad and Kairat Ahkmetov in the final.
Kingad earned his spot in the semifinals with a unanimous-decision over Senzo Ikeda. Along with Johnson, Kingad has to be considered a favorite to reach the finals since he will be competing in his home country of the Philippines, and is riding a five-bout win streak.
During the streak, Kingad owns wins over Wada and Wakamatsu. A victory at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES would solidify him as one of the best flyweights in the world, but it won't come easy. His opponent, Ahkmetov, is a world-class wrestler who has only lost to current or former champions in his career. He defeated Reece McLaren in the quarterfinals, and his lone losses came to current champion Adriano Moraes and former titleholder Geje Eustaquio. Akhmetov is also a former champion, having briefly held the flyweight title. It should be an exciting scrap.
There is also a ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix semifinal match on tap.
Timofey Nastyuhkin will continue his attempt to reach the final round of the tournament when he faces Honorio Banario.
Nastyuhkin's surprise victory over Alvarez raised him to a global profile level, and many will be watching to see if he has what it takes to make it to the end. Standing in his way is Banario, who caught a break when his quarterfinal opponent, Lowen Tynanes, suffered a back injury and had to bow out of the Grand Prix.
Tynanes had defeated Banario by TKO, but when the former couldn't go, Banario was tabbed as his replacement. Nastyuhkin will be favored in this battle, but the winner will be faced with the formidable challenge of taking on Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev in the Grand Prix Final.
Arslanaliev knocked out Amir Khan to reach the final, and has already scored a KO win over Nastyuhkin. The ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix is set up to end rather explosively later this year.

Jomary Torres Confident Of Ending Skid in Kuala Lumpur
Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres is highly-determined to get back to the winner’s circle at ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY on July 12 against Malaysian hometown hero Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan.
Victory has evaded Torres as of recent, with the Filipina having dropped three straight to Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol, Mei Yamaguchi, and Lin Heqin. But instead of sulking in defeat, “The Zamboanginian Fighter” has chosen to take each experience as a lesson. As such, Torres feels well-prepared to face Radzuan, even in front of her fans at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.
“It will be a good fight. Jihin is a good fighter,” Torres said.
“She’s strong and skilled. Both of us are hungry to win. I will give my best in this fight.”
Torres’ resolve will be out to the test against “Shadow Cat”. Radzuan began her mixed martial arts stint on fire, finding success through her first four professional bouts until she ran into Team Lakay’s Gina Iniong.
Despite Radzuan’s immense talent however, Torres believes that her hard work and trust in her team will result in an upset in Radzuan’s hometown.
“Jihin is strong and very well-rounded,” Torres said.
“She can strike and she can take the fight to the ground. I have to be at my very best if I am to take the victory. My team and I have prepared well for this fight. Every fighter has holes in their game. There is no perfect fighter. There is always a weakness. We’ve studied her and we have prepared a good game plan. Now it’s just time to execute.”
The 23-year-old, under the guidance of ONE veteran Rene Catalan, is training non-stop for one of the most important bouts of her career. Torres will be coming in determined and focused to take the victory at the end of the night.
“I want everyone to know I am always hungry and determined to win,” Torres concluded.
“Each time I step into the cage, I am looking for victory. I want to bring honor and glory to my country.”
